I booked a trip to New Orleans to celebrate my boyfriend, Paul's birthday. It was both our first time visiting New Orleans so we wanted to be near the French Quarter as we didn't rent a car. NOPSI Hotel was the perfect location as it was away from the bustling crowds in the French Quarter but a short 5-10 minute walk from Bourbon Street.

Don't let the exterior of the hotel building deceive you. The hotel's lobby was immaculate. There's a lovely outdoor patio, two bars and restaurant (Public Service) that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. We got some drinks at the bar in Public Service. It was lively and everyone was having a good time. It was a great start to a night of more drinking on Bourbon Street.

I'm not exaggerating when I tell you that I was obsessed with the bath tub in the bathroom. I took a bubble bath each night we stayed at the hotel. Paul even took a few bubble baths of his own as well and indulged in some self-care. The bathroom was to die for with his and hers sink, a large shower area and of course, the white tub - perfect for relaxation. 

It was really hot and humid when we visited New Orleans so the rooftop pool was perfect for cooling down and soaking in the city views. We like to enjoy hotel pools in the morning before it gets crowded. We had the pool to ourselves for a few hours in the morning before starting our day. The rooftop pool has a bar which also serves food. We didn't get a chance to experience the live music on the weekends but they have a list of rotating DJs that plays on the weekends.

• Harrah's New Orleans Hotel & Casino if you're feeling lucky
• Shop and eat at The French Market
• Explore New Orleans by riding the street cars
• Try some beignets at Café Beignet or Café Du Monde
