We had an amazing time in Lake Tahoe for 4th of July weekend and several people have asked where we stayed in Lake Tahoe. We had the opportunity to stay at Station House Inn in South Lake Tahoe during our trip and it was the perfect location and accommodation. The room was spacious and I loved the cabin/wood theme of the rooms. 

Located in the heart of South Lake Tahoe, Station House Inn is within walking distance to Heavenly Village and there's a beach right behind the hotel. If you book directly with the hotel, you'll get free beach passes to Lakeside Beach - otherwise it's $25 per person ($15 for children ages 6-17 and free for children's under 5). Lakeside Beach is a private beach but is open the public year-round. 

There are plenty of rooms with different options for every need. It's a very family-friendly hotel and perfect for children. We saw a lot of families and there's a lot of games/activities for everyone to be entertained. There's an outdoor firepit, pool, patio, swings, cornhole, jenga and several board games in the lobby. We really enjoyed the facilities/amenities of the hotel.

Connected to the pool is a restaurant and bar that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. We tried Toulouse which serves New Orleans style cuisine on our last night for dinner and and everything was soooo good. Our favorite was the shrimp & grits. You can order room service or order poolside service from Toulouse. 

You are within walking distance from Station House Inn to the main restaurants and shops in Heavenly Village but we enjoyed riding the scooters around town to explore. There are a bunch of scooters all over so it's a good option if you don't want to walk and keep in mind that parking is very limited in the area. You'll most likely have to pay for parking and if you're visiting during peak season, it can get very crowded.
